Do Your Part -Serve and Honor Anyway

One of the hardest things to do as a Christian is to honor and serve faithfully when the person we are serving or called to support is not appreciative of our support. We can easily get discouraged and want to walk away, blow up, act out of character, and completely mishandle the situation. We struggle and get frustrated all the while God’s not saying its time to go. What do you do? How do you endure? How do you stay and listen to that small voice telling you to remain in God’s will? The Word says in Galatians 6:9 (KJV): “And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap if we faint not.” There’s a promise if we endure. The key is to seek God for strength and guidance. Trust me you don’t want to leave too soon. It's not easy but we have to be led by the Holy Spirit.

There are so many different scenarios. Some situations might be easier than others but the lesson is to do your part. At work focus on working as unto God, and treat people like Jesus treats you. Don’t treat them nice because they treat you nice or vice versa, treat them as you would like to be treated and as everyone should be treated. God is just and will give you the grace to endure. If you seek God in prayer and His answer is to be still, then you have to trust that there is a good reason for it. He’s a good father and is trustworthy. The word says in Romans 8:28 (NIV): “And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.” Remind yourself that He works everything for your good. Trust the word and know that in due season you will reap if you faint not. In Numbers 23:19 it says that: “God is not human, that he should lie, not a human being, that he should change his mind. Does he speak and then not act? Does he promise and not fulfill?” Trust Him if you are currently in a tight place, trust that He will give you the grace to endure. Usually, in those situations, God is building our character; allow Him to train you and make you better into the image of Christ. I’ve been in similar situations and I, later on, realized that all my relationships are better for it now. God won’t cause you to be in that situation longer than you need to be, the key is to stay prayerful, seek Him first and submit those frustrations to Him so you don’t attack people or act out of character. Be lead by the Holy Spirit, don’t let frustration make you leave the training ground before time.

Learning to serve can be a painful process if you don’t learn to get your feelings out of the way. It’s not just about the deed but also your heart’s posture. It requires for you to be all in and for your heart to be invested. That’s where a lot of people need to seek the Lord when it comes to serving because it’s not easy. You need God to help you truly serve and not be resentful. Remember that we are working, helping and serving other human beings. We are usually so quick to grace ourselves but not others. There’s no point to you doing it if you’re annoyed while doing it or just focused on how much you don’t want to. Do it as unto the Lord. Colossians 3:24 (NLV) says: “Remember that the Lord will give you an inheritance as your reward and that the Master you are serving is Christ.”

Let’s pray: Father, it’s hard to honor and serve when we feel unappreciated but you did not say to serve when it feels good, You just said to serve. Please meet us in our frustrations when we just want to be petty, play tit for tat, or just quit altogether. Give us the grace to endure until You release us to move on. Help us to serve each other as You have, with pure intentions and pure heart. Give us the desire to remain in your will and to heed your Holy Spirit. Dad, you are a good father, help us to be still and know and trust that even these situation will work for our good. Help us to be still and to know time is in the palm of your hands and we are not wasting it but being prepared for the time to come. Help us not abort the process In Jesus name!! I love you, but God loves you more ☺
