Seek Him First

Matthew 6:33 King James Version (KJV) But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness, and all these things shall be added unto you.
right·eous·ness
noun
1.     The quality of being morally right or justifiable.

We were first introduced to many of the things in this world by the world or by our family parents or friends. So when we become a Christian and start to follow Christ, our minds need to be renewed. He needs to change our perspectives so we can see things from His perspective and understand and look at things through the eyes of faith and not doubt and fear. We need to look at people through His eyes and love them through His love. Understand success from His perspective and point of view. This is why we need to seek Him first, His kingdom, and His righteousness.

We all understand the concept of God first and putting Him first in our lives but for the first time, I'm looking deeper into this verse. Meditating is helping me to understand that yes put God first, but God is literally saying to lay everything down including what we've been conditioned to understand and believe. If we let go of our old mindsets and seek Him and His righteousness we will be renewed and pick up His habits and perspective so that we can pursue things the right way; The healthy way and understand them with wisdom. I don't know about other people but I use to hear and read this verse before and only focused on the, seek Him first and everything else will be added part. Now, I understand that God is saying more. Now I see if I seek Him first, my eyes will be open and I will lose my old ways and old thinking and now other things if need can be pursued the right way. I will have a clear vision because my mind will be clear and I will have the wisdom to make the right choices. After I've been schooled and taught the proper way, I can now see clearly.

By ourselves we are not morally right, we need Him to help us get right and stay right. A lot of us have been taught dysfunction, hate, and manipulation by our environments. You can’t be made whole, succeed, righteous and become all that God has called you to be with all the baggage. God is not denying you of what you want, He wants the best for you but first, you have to seek Him so He can open your eyes. After He renews your mind, then you see things not through your personal experience, your past or your brokenness, but through His truth. God doesn't want us to be deceived which is most likely what happens when we seek other things first they can become idols and cause our judgments to be clouded.

Seeking God first in everything also means seeking Him first in our desires, needs, and wants. Allow Him first place in any situation so anything else comes after. That way He fills us up and everything is extra and complimentary. Friendships and every relationship we desire will fall right into place when we are filled with God first. We won't have any unrealistic expectations of others because we sought Him first in our lack and empty desires. When we seek God first, we become whole don’t have unhealthy and draining expectations of others; we are stable human beings. Does not mean we no longer need relationships or deny fellowship, we just are not needy and draining to others. We don't have unhealthy or unrealistic expectations of them. We look to God to fill our emptiness first. If we do not allow God to fill us and make us whole we can end up draining our relationships. So seek Him first. It's worth it. The best part is that if you ask He will give you the desires and help you put Him first. I pray your mind be fully renewed in Christ Jesus.

Let’s Pray:
Father seeking You first, is not always easy but is necessary. We live in an impulsive world and never really have the patience to allow the Holy Spirit to help us gage our next move or bring clarity to situations. Help us to seek You first God so that we are not deceived. Help us to submit our desires to You so we can see them through the eyes of truth. Renew our minds and help us to desire the right things. Father help us to trust You with everything because You are for us. Help us to understand that seeking You first is for our benefit because You will never steer us wrong. Romans 12:2 Let us not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of our minds. Then we will be able to test and approve what God's will is--his good, pleasing and perfect will. In Jesus name! Amen.

I love you but Jesus loves you more. J
