Why you need to Pray?

Why you need to Pray?

Matthew 26:41 (NLT)
Keep watch and pray, so that you will not give in to temptation. For the spirit is willing, but the body is weak!”

Many of us are familiar with this verse from the gospel of Matthew when Jesus told the disciples to stay up and pray with Him but they kept falling asleep. Jesus knew that it was important for them to spend time in prayer because of what they were up against and what was coming. I love this scripture because it shows how important it is to pray especially in trying times. The scripture says to keep watch and pray, so it tells us to be vigilant and to be aware. When we don’t pray our spirit is weak and we can are vulnerable. In other words, stay awake and be of a sober mind. It is important for us to pray so God can strengthen our spirit and keep us so we do not give in to temptation.

It is easy to fall into temptation when we are distracted. With everything going on in our world right now many of us are under a lot of pressure. There's a strong temptation to panic but we have to keep our trust and faith in God. One of the biggest distractions right now is fear and fear is not of God. If we are not praying we can't really guard our hearts against fear. 2 timothy 1:7  says, "For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind." Praying will strengthen our spirit and help guard our hearts against fear. This does not mean that we will not be tempted. Prayer will keep our focus on God instead of our situation. When we pray God opens our eyes to see from His perspective. Fear usually magnifies the issue and makes it appear bigger than God and the more we feed on it, the more fearful we become. It is important that we do not submit to fear but submit to God in prayer.

Prayer is a proactive way that we can respond to Crisis and danger. When we seek God, He not only strengthens us at the moment but prepares us for the future. Prayer should be our first response when we don't know what to do or what's ahead. We need to remember that prayer is powerful and gives God access to download fresh revelation and information that you would otherwise have missed because of stress and chaos going on around you. Prayer helps you to receive supernatural strength and be recharged. You gain wisdom, understanding, and strategy from God. We need to seek God for His agenda in this time of Chaos. God has the power to change things and can do it through you. So, Pray and intercede for the world and your families. Pray scripture and partner with the Holy Spirit, so God’s will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Know that God is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us…Ephesians 3:20-21Be encouraged in the Lord! We have the Victory!

Let’s Pray:
Father, we thank You for the opportunity to communicate with you through prayer. Thank You that prayer is an open door for Your will to be done in our lives and for Your kingdom to come down to earth. Help us, Lord, to push past the resistance to spend time with You in prayer. Help us to come and allow You to open our eyes so we can see clearly. We need to come to you in prayer to gain fresh wisdom, understanding, strength, and strategy. Lord in a time where the entire world is plagued by fear; help us submit to You so You can fill us with faith. Help us seek you and not allow fear to distract us from praying. Lord, impart strength and boldness in this season. May we run to You for comfort and not to other things. Draw us to You Jesus!! In Your mighty name, I pray, Amen.

**Disclaimer**
This is not a study on prayer. I'm just sharing some words of encouragement and wisdom to show why it's important to pray. I am aware that there are many scriptures on prayer and many different reasons based on scripture showing why prayer is essential in our relationships with Christ. I only shared a few. I hope this blesses you.
